This new three-day hands-on training course is designed to introduce users to the best practices from interpretation to structural quality control to 3D mapping and contouring. The course is based in the TrapTester interpretation and 3D model building environment. Participants will learn how to apply modern fault analysis concepts during structural interpretation to identify and correct areas of poor interpretation, as well as all the necessary skills to create faulted structural models and incorporate well-based data to refine the framework model.
The techniques and methods described in this course can be equally applied to geological areas which are under investigation for possible carbon storage. A geologically-robust 3D fault interpretation is of paramount importance as an aid to understanding the possible compartmentalisation of the storage reservoir.
Course Overview: |
Fault Analysis Concepts |
Good seismic interpretation of faults should include a workflow that checks the interpretation against known structural properties of fault systems. Concepts and methods for the analysis of faults are presented, leading to a geologically-robust interpretation. |
Fault Framework Models |
A geologically robust 3D Fault Framemodel of the faulted sub-surface is a prerequiste for accurate mapping, utimately leading to optimal well planning and volumetric calculations. Working in a full 3D modelling environment, easy-to-use techniquies are applied to constrain the modelling process, resulting in a geometrically and geologically consistenmt fault model. |
Case studies |
Case Studies are presented to show the value of implementing these new methods. |
Who should attend?: |
This new course is designed for Seismic Interpreters, Geologists & Geophysicists who wish to derive geologically-robust fault framework models and contour maps of more complex faulted sub-structures. Some experience of TrapTester is preferred but is not essential. |
When, Where and How Much?: |
When and Where? |
The course can be in your offices or ours, for groups or individuals. The charges for the course will depend on the location, duration and number of people involved. |
